The Arrows A6 was designed for the 1983 Formula 1 season, following on from the A5. Designed by Dave Wass, the A6 featured a clean, relatively simple design with an aluminium monocoque chassis. The car was powered by the ever-reliable Ford Cosworth DFV V8 engine, producing around 500-520 horsepower. By 1983, however, the naturally aspirated DFV was struggling against the new wave of turbocharged engines from manufacturers like Renault, Ferrari, and BMW.
Aerodynamically, the A6 was a significant improvement over its predecessor, with better downforce and more refined airflow management. Marc Surer and Chico Serra drove the A6, with Surer delivering some respectable performances, including a few points finishes, particularly in wet or high-attrition races.
